This was the first in this collection of illustrations that I created, entitled strange fruit. This illustration is my interpretation of everything we as black people have had to endured over the last 500 years. The cruelty, the pain, the injustice. In spite of all this, our fruit still grows, our strength is ancestral and our resilience is forever. And we see it all.
